Eureka Skate Park Description from City of Eureka Website
The Eureka Skate Park is located at Cooper Gulch at 8th & "R" Streets (end of 8th Street off of Myrtle Avenue). The 12,000 square foot skate park contains something for all skaters including bowls and street features. The largest bowl includes a 10 foot overt pocket with two more eight foot pockets and 6 foot hips. Connected to it is an 8 foot open ended square with round corners. All of the larger bowls have pool coping.
A 4 foot mini bowl cascades down to 6 feet, and wraps around to the 8 foot square. These feature galvanized metal coping with a metal edged banked extension in the mini bowl that shares the decking with the square bowl.
The top of the park features a 3 foot rounded wall that drops into a flat section with two grind bars which wash into a 5 foot quarter bank that has metal coping and decking, creating a set back ledge alongside the mini. The bowls are surrounded by ledges with metal corners. Adjacent to the 6 foot quarter bank are two sets of stairs with handrails.

This skatepark in Seattle was ripped by Corey Kennedy. Check out this footage of Corey skating at this park from a few months ago. The tricks were intense but also technical and Corey made it fun!

P-Rod Killing it at the Culver City Skatepark! All in one day!
Maloof Money Cup is set in NYC this Year and will Leave the Skatepark this Time
The Maloof Money Cup has released a comprehensive design for the 16,000 square-foot skate plaza that will reside permanently at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York. You can view the rendering and additional info via the TWSkateboarding site.
The design of the skate plaza to replace the park’s deteriorating Astral Fountain was conceptualized by Chris Cole, Geoff Rowley NYC skate legend Steve Rodriguez and Joe Ciaglia, president of California Skateparks and it looks solid with replicas of several NY street spots. And even though it will undoubtedly become a huge attraction for skateboarders and NYC Parks & Recreation Department’s “Adopt-a-Park” program for years to come, the flow of this plaza appears to funnel down into one central area and not in other non-linear directions. That’s just our opinion, but then again, Leo Romero can help to change that can’t he?
The Maloof Money Cup co-presented by Vans will host the world’s top professional skateboarders at the 2010 Maloof Money Cup at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens this summer from June 5th-6th, 2010.

Greg Myers: Skateboarding is Forever Video Part from DC Shoes
This is by far one of the best video parts I've seen in a while. Greg Myers skates fast, with style, goes nar all out on stairs and handrails, as well as keeps it tech with switch front-side flips over stair gaps with rails and really high 360 Flip Hippy Jumps. The first 360 Flip Hippy Jump that starts out his video part was probably waist high.
Greg Myers is a skater to watch out for in the coming years because not only does he have a bag of tech skate tricks, he does them big, high (with super pop), and goes fast!

How to Krooked Grind 180 Out with Big T
Step 1. Find a nice ledge or bench with smooth ground so you can land smooth and roll a way.
Step 2. Practice your nose slides to 180 out so you can get the motion down.
Step 3. Approach the ledge/bench like the nose slide, but aim your nose slightly above the edge of the ledge at an angle.
Step 4. Lock the Krooked Grind in place, center your weight above the board to guide yourself.
Step 5. Rotate your body to fackie and the board will follow.
Step 6. Roll away smooth! Congratulations!
You've just learned the Krooks Grind 180! Check out skate products at http://www.eurekaskateshop.com/

360 Flip, by Pat Duffy
This is also a nice video on How to 360 Flip with Pat Duffy. He explains it a little different than Paul Rodriguez (P Rod) but it is still good. I like the way they filmed this video to with it's special affects and the colors they used. Check it out and let me know how you think. Remember, always have fun skateboarding!

Mastering the Ollie
Here are the step by step basics of Mastering the Ollie:
Step 1. Stand like how you would normally stand, but with your back foot centered firmly on the tail end of your skateboard, and your front foot about mid-way up toward the nose of your skateboard.
Step 2. With your arms out to balance yourself, stand on your toes (both feet) and crouch down like a crouching Tiger. I call this the Tiger position.
Step 3. This is the most important step. This step should happen instantaneously and concurrently. In the same motion, press down (really hard) with your back foot (dig into the board!) and slide your front foot forward (up towards the nose of your board). As you press down on the back foot and slide with your front foot, you should also jump up with your whole body and tuck in your knees while in the air. As you and your board are "lifted" into the air, take a moment to breath and "sit" in the air to enjoy your trick.
Step 4. The landing. As you come down to Earth from your long and high flight, make sure your arms are still spread out so that your body is in control and always balanced, and lean towards the direction you are going. When your board touches the ground, duck down and bend your knees one more time to absorb the impact (due to gravity, what goes up....must come down!).
Step 5. Roll away smooth and smile because you did it!:)
If you have any questions on how to do an ollie or if you did not understand something, feel free to make a comment and I will respond within 24 hours. Have fun skateboarding!

New Obama Health Insurance Proposal
Health insurance should be very important for every skateboarder
because accidents can put a skater out for several months. There is a
huge risk when anybody, even a skateboarder, attempts to live life
without health insurance. Most people have to get jobs with health
benefits just to have health coverage. For those that do have it,
congratulations. For those that don't, let's hope the government
comes up with a plan that will make individual healthcare coverage
more afordable for everyone.

Nice Sunny Day at the Eureka Skatepark
It was surprisingly nice and sunny, considering all the rain we've
been having. You have to grab that sunny day when you get the chance
and just go out and skate! It was nice to connect with the locals and
play a game of S.K.A.T.E. also.

New Skateboard Trick to Learn: 360 Flips aka Tre Flips
Being able to 360 flip on your skateboard means that you have already mastered the most basic tricks such as the ollie, kick flip, heel flip, pop-shuvit, varial flip and more.
In my opinion, P-Rod has one of the best 360 Flips in the industry.
Check Out P-Rods 360 Flip:
P-Rod is so good at Tre Flips that he does it to krooked grinds:
I remember when I did my first 360 Flip, it was one of the best days of my life. Not only because it was (and still is) a very difficult trick to learn, but I had practiced and practiced for days, weeks, and months, before even coming close to landing both feet on the top of the board and rolling away.
So to any skateboarder out there that can hang in long enough to learn and master this trick, I give you props! Congratulations! Keep skating and learning!
Street Dreams Movie
Rob has been talking about this film for a long time. Rob says that he put up his own money for this so way to go Rob! Congratulations on a job well done and for accomplishing something as big as this movie project that puts skateboarders in their own light, instead of being shown by Hollywood.

Eureka Skatepark Grand Opening!!
Finally, Eureka CA has its very own skatepark! Ever since I was younger and going to Eureka High, when I started skateboarding, I had always wised for Eureka to have its own skatepark. They did not even complete the Arcata Skatepark until my last year of high school, and that was the only park available, until now.
